Do you think the British public would really want Proportional Representation as it would need to be applied?

As i see it to represent minorities such as U.K.I.P and B.N.P the "nation" would need to become one electoral district (similar systems in Israel and Netherlands) where lets say for argument, U.K.I.P get 1,000,000. votes which represents exactly 10% of votes cast, with a Parliament of 650 seats (at the moment) they would gain 65 seats. However the electorate in gaining this representation forfeit the ability to have a local representative that are directly responsible to them and unless one party gains 51% of the vote there would always be a hung Parliament. Although there are other forms of P.R they do not seem to represent minority parties and still maintain a local representative as the minority parties are mainly discounted in electing a local M.P (Seat). So is P.R really a good idea for the U.K?
