Pretty thick brit here! where do u all recommend to live in melbourne?

dont want city living and would prefer to spend $350,000 on house but prepared to go to $500,000 if needed! lookin for nice area pretty close to beach suggestions? been told patterson lakes,mt martha,frankston but you lot kind a persuaded me to boycott that 1!!! many thanks dum brit!
